Memorial Day marks the long awaited moment where all of the pools open up to the public for the summer. Very exciting! If you’re not pool ready yet, and don’t know where to begin, have no fear! The Orchid would never let you start the summer without a plan. Here are our five pool party tips you’ll need to survive this summer!
We know being tan is almost everyone’s goal, but what’s more important: Protecting your skin from sun damage or glowing for a week? You’re supposed to say protecting your skin from the sun! Wrinkles are the last thing on every woman’s ‘want’ list, so make sure you stock up on a facial moisturizer that has SPF 15 and a sun block for your body that has at least 30 SPF. Not only are you not looking to turn into a leather bag for the summer, but you don’t want to be a tomato either! They are delicious, we know, but keep it for step two.
2. Get Fit!
If you haven’t joined the gym yet, or started your weekly mile run, you better get on it! Those love handles are not going to work off themselves. We know it’s hard to say no to the donuts your co-worker brought for breakfast, but you have to put your sweets affair on hold until the winter. (The more you eat, the warmer you get, so it’s allowed!) Instead of eating sweets as a snack, eat delicious fruits that are filling and less fattening. Though eating right is important in keeping your body looking its best, you won’t get far without working out. If you’re not into going to the gym, buy a fitness video. We hear Jillian Michaels is a beast!
3. Tame the Mane
Though everyone wishes they had a head of waves like Giselle Bündchen, it’s definitely not the case. Because of this, we all need a hair style plan for our pool/beach hair. If you don’t like keeping your hair down in the pool, put it in a side braid to keep it secure and avoid knots. If you plan on channeling your inner Giselle, let your mane run free. In order to avoid knots and frizzing, bring a comb and any brand of beach hair spray with you to the pool. The spray will help your hair dry gorgeously when you’re out of the pool but still at the party…you party animal!
4. Minimize Your Cocktail Intake
There are a million reasons why you shouldn’t get too drunk at a pool party. The most important one would have to be to avoid drowning. But also, you don’t want to slip and fall in front of the whole party. So embarrassing! You could also do a cannon ball in the middle of your drinking glory and have a bikini malfunction leading to a nipple slip! Oh my, the list truly could go on. We know getting tipsy is fun, but let’s monitor it just this once. You won’t regret it.
Strive to have the most fashionable swimsuit at the party. Keep the latest swimwear trends in mind: gold hardware, nautical theme, fringe detailing, etc. Whether you choose a two piece or a monokini, we know you’ll go to the right place: TheOrchidBoutique.com!
