Twitter was a buzzin during the show. Badgley Mischka brought old Hollywood glamour to the runway with their Spring 2012 Ready to Wear Collection. It was a line filled with ethereal gowns and striking pieces. The designing duo, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, told InStyle that their inspiration for this line came from studying the “organic movement of the body” with an “emphasis on volume and shape.”
Badgley Mischka’s spring ready-to-wear collection was simply sleek, chic and sophisticated. The designers sent a selection of nudes, corals, and pale pinks down the runway as well as saturated colors like fuchsia, bold red, and fire orange. Luxurious brocade, shantung and linen fabrics adorned the runway in solids and floral prints.
With Badgley Mischka, the magic is in the details. Whether it’s a bow, a belt, or a beaded embellishment, these designers always finish their sleek designs with the perfect amount of adornment. This year the runway showcased Badgley Mischka’s signature styling with pleating and ruffles in all the right places. The old Hollywood glamour of the collection was notable with flowing evening gowns, structured bubble skirts, pinup inspired corset bodices, and dazzling gold shimmer detailing.
Badgley Mischka’s designs are truly all about the woman’s body and how to enhance her natural beauty. The designers showcased their fabulous evening wear designs in cocktail and floor length. An abundance of sweetheart necklines and body contouring silhouettes kept us begging for more. Some favorite pieces include a pair of fire orange high-waisted shorts paired with a lemon yellow boat neck blouse, a glamorous floor length gown of shimmering gold, and a coral dress with a large bow detail on the bodice paired with a pair of poppy red heels.
Badgley Mischka also included some swimwear pieces on the runway. Their first look paraded the Surplice Stone Blousson with draping detail and skinny straps. This swimsuit was sent down the runway in Badgley Mischka’s sky color but we also love it in stone gray. It’s a perfect swimsuit for a modern twist on the one piece swimsuit.
The designing duo also sent their Belle Bottom down the runway paired with a teal leather jacket. This high-waisted bottom features cinched fabric detailing at each hip and on the sides for a slimming appearance. Badgley Mischka also sent this swimsuit down the runway in sky but we adore the pinup inspired black version.
The Badgley Mischka 2012 Swimwear collection features styles like the Tangier Sky Halter, which bring the sky blue color off the runway and straight to your wardrobe. The halter top features the signature Badgley Mischka beaded emblem embellishment at center bust with gathered fabric details for a flattering look. Tangier’s hipster bottom also incorporate the beaded embellishment on each hip with ruby, gold and blue jewel tones. This suit provides optimal support with a flattering seamless fit to hug your curves just right.
