It’s about to be cruise season ladies…cruises or winter vacations to ditch the cold and welcome the tropics. It’s that time of the year when the clothes come off and our brazilian bikini insecurities are on full display after months of being hidden underneath sweaters and fall coats. But I know I’m not the only one thinking of that nasty little c-word that haunts most of us: cellulite. So we work out (kinda) and eat right (sorta) in preparation to look like eye candy in our teeny tiny bikinis but let’s face it, no one is perfect. Men will never understand the pressure women carry every season to look good at the beach, and no girl wants to be the friend who brought “cottage cheese” to the beach, if ya know what I mean.
For this exact reason I have researched some super effective ways to help prevent the visibility of cellulite. I know, YIKES. That dimply, lumpy arch nemesis that resides on the butts and thighs of women worldwide. It is my job as a woman to help my fellow female followers look irresistible on the beach this summer.
First, let’s start with the age old question… Why, God why?
It’s the hormones. While both women and men get cellulite it’s a lot more dominant in women because we produce estrogen. Not only that, but the bands that connect our skin and muscle differ for men and women. Men have thicker bands that form a crisscross pattern that keeps fat in place, while women have a vertical pattern which makes it easy for fat to pucker.. thus resulting in cellulite. However, cellulite is not caused by fat alone, and even the thinnest of women suffer from cellulite.
But have no fear my ladies, here are some easy and useful tips to follow this summer to help get rid of cellulite. The first 3 are obvious:
Eat a Healthy Diet
Come ‘on ladies, back to basics. Maintaining healthy eating habits plays an important role at keeping signs of cellulite at bay. Just a tip, colorful veggies are loaded with vitamin C, which is essential to preventing collagen breakdown.
8 ½ cups per day. Do it. If you need a quick refresher on WHY water rules, check it out here: http://www.theorchidboutique.com/blog/drinking-water-change-health
Since cellulite is fat, excess weight can contribute to it. That’s why it’s important to engage in physical exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, yoga, etc., several times a week. Try not to make the phrase “work out” sound like a chore. Clubbing on girls night out can be a workout as long as you keep your butt on the dance floor and away from the bar.
Another Reason to Love Coffee
Mix ¼ cup of ground coffee with your favorite body lotion. Massage this caffeinated concoction into your skin for 5 minutes, rinse off and dry. The caffeine in coffee dilates blood vessels, which temporarily tones and tightens tissue. Plus, it increases circulation and reduces water retention, both of which may also help smooth the rumpled look of cellulite. The antioxidants in coffee may help to release toxins, which is not only helpful for cellulite, but for healthy skin in general.
Get a Rub Down
Vigorous massage helps to increase blood circulation, removing toxins and reducing excessive amounts of fluid in areas that contain cellulite. While a massage may temporarily compress fat cells the beneficial results are not permanent… womp.
Shop High Waisted Swimwear
If you’re really fretting over a bit of cellulite, then we can certainly help. Shopping our full cut high waisted swimwear selection will add some extra coverage into the mix.
Get a Tan
Having a nice golden tan will camouflage the appearance of cellulite.
High stress levels have been shown to increase fat levels in your body. Long story short, try not to worry… you’re still beautiful.
Regardless of any cellulite tips and tricks, women should embrace their bodies. No brazilian bikini body was created equally, which in my opinion is FABulous.
