I’m a huge foodie, so I love trying new restaurants and tasting different types of cuisine. This week is perfect for food connoisseurs because it’s restaurant week in Coral Gables. The Gables is one of the nicer areas of Miami, with designer shops and trees decorated with Christmas lights all year round. It’s the perfect area to just take a walk in on a nice, sunny day.

This year they have extended the event to go on for the last three weeks of June. Delicious restaurants will create three-course meals specially for this food party, and give you at least 20% off, more if you’re lucky. There is also an official cocktail, the Bacardi Mojito, which I most definitely will be trying. I love Mojitos – they are SO summer.

There are a couple of restaurants that I have my eye on for this fab special. I’m a sushi girl at heart, always and forever. Just saying the word sushi, I can smell the fresh fish and spicy wasabi. Ikura Sushi Lounge has their lunch and dinner menu combined. For $25, I can have white fish ceviche, the Honey Moon Roll and molten lava cake. Those are just my choices, there are a number of other options that are just as delicious.

Christy’s Restaurant is known for being pricey dining. It’s definitely the date spot of choice for mature couples that have money to spend. (‘Mature’ is my nice way of saying that they are older than me.) They are hosting dinner only, and I am dreaming about the black bean soup appetizer. Yum-my! For the entrée, they know what people like. Out of four different types of hearty proteins, I am torn between the Atlantic salmon and the braised short rib. They kept it simple for dessert with a homemade key lime pie that I’m sure is nothing less than creamy, tart goodness. Don’t even get me started on the crust.

My meat eater option is Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, chi chi chi chi chi! (That was for my Housewives of Beverly Hills fans.) Their dinner special is $40 with portions for two, and they are also featuring three paired wines with your meal for an additional $16. Yes, please! The menu is also pescatarian friendly, so I can bring my seafood eating sisters. My must-have’s for this food party are the cedar roasted mushroom and artichoke flatbread, filet mignon with mac and cheese and sweet carrot cake.
