Summer time just makes me think of sweltering heat that makes me so thirsty I want to drink pool water. Okay fine, not pool water! But I’m sure you guys get pretty thirsty yourselves. One of the best things about summer are the bright colors, from your swimsuit all the way down to the drink you’re sipping on. So, in the name of bright and sunny summertime, here are some drink recipes from the Food Network that will cool you down this season.
When I saw this Grapefruit Sparkler, my mouth watered. I can’t think of a more perfect fruit for the season than this one! All you need is:
3 ounces of your choice of grapefruit juice
2 ounces of your choice of cranberry juice
A splash of lime juice
Put all of these ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake it furiously for 30 seconds to a full minute. You want that baby to be cold! Strain the drink into an ice-filled glass rimmed with salt. Splash some seltzer on the drink and make it pretty with a sliced lime as the garnish. Yum!
For those of you who enjoy some sangria in the sun, this Rose Sangria recipe is perfect for you. This drink requires a couple of more ingredients, but it’s so easy to make that it’s worth it!
1 bottle (750 ml) dry rose wine
1/4 cup brandy
2 tablespoons raspberry liqueur
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups raspberries
1 1/2 cups quartered strawberries
1 sliced lemon
1 1/2 cups seltzer
First, mix the wine, raspberry liquor and sugar together in a pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves into the drink. Then, add all of the fruit. Put the sangria in the refrigerator for at least an hour, though it can hang out in there for an entire day. Add the seltzer before serving and bam! You have yourself some homemade sangria.
I couldn’t discuss delicious summer drinks without mentioning the classic Piña Colada. So delicious!

1/2 cup diced pineapple, frozen
2 ounces pineapple juice
2 ounces Coco Lopez coconut cream
1 1/2 ounces white rum

Blend the ice, frozen pineapple, juice, coconut cream and the white and dark rums until smooth. Find a friend to drink it with as the recipe is for 2, and garnish it with a pineapple slice!
