Escape Miami

It was day two of 2014 swim week and the champagne was still flowing as if it was coming from a fountain. Out of all of the fashion week events, Escape Miami at the Sagamore Hotel was hands down my favorite. The event started with pop up shops showcasing designer bikinis (provided by yours truly, duh), jewelry, clothing and super cool sunglasses that were covered in felt instead of the usual plastic. The fashion fun continued with photo booths with silly sunnies, alcoholic slushi’s (an adult’s dream), braids and beach waves by Blo, yogurts and treats from Pinkberry, massages, mani/pedi pampering, and a step and repeat that didn’t get a break.

The crowd was complete with every ‘Who’s Who’ in the trend blogosphere. The Fashion Poet, also known as Annie Vasquez, hosted the event and floated around the party in a yellow, floral printed maxi dress that made me want to run through a garden with her. I spotted her chatting with the Haute Frugalista, whose name I just learned is Dee Trillo. She was so sweet because she saw in my face that I had never met a ‘Dee’ before, so she politely name dropped her fashion alias. We giggled at the power of her chic alter ego and decided to cement our new friendship with a fun photo shoot.

While taking a peak at the pop up shops, I stumbled upon Daniela Ramirez, one of my favorite fashion bloggers because of her “remix” of outfits on Nany’s Klozet. She is always so sweet every time I see her. We bonded over fashion exhaustion, but also obsession, since we both didn’t plan on leaving swim week until it left us. I also ran into Electric Blogarella, Kelly’s Kloset, Cha Cha the Fashion Genius, Ria Michelle, and Living in Color Print, among other influential ladies in the world of fashion bloggers. Seeing these girls is always like seeing old friends. They are all so down to earth and friendly. <3

Of course, a swim week event is not an event at all without a fashion show. Although we shared the stage (only by definition), we stole the show with the Oceanica Dreams tankini from Maaji Swimwear¸ our super haute outfit that is made of the Gold Fringe Halter by Luli Fama and the Fashionista Shorts by Lovers + Friends, and the ridiculously sexy Eden Maillot Monokini by Anna Kosturova. That trio is enough to make you forget any other bikini you’ve ever seen.

Leave a comment about your swim week escapades, and let me know who your favorite fashion blogger is. I promise I will tell her…
