There are a bunch of Fourth of July events in Miami this year and they are all getting me in the patriotic spirit. What’s great about Miami is the variety of events you can attend for major holidays. It must be due to our ‘melting pot’ persona. I’ve been searching high and low for things to do on this firework-filled day that will make everyone happy. Sure, you can always head to the beach for some bikini bonding, but in my family, we have the old people (my parents), the cool people (me… and I guess my sisters lol) and the youngsters (my pre-teen niece and cousins). That’s a lot of people to please when deciding where to celebrate the Fourth! If you’re a local, you most likely have the same dilemma as I do, so thank me later when you find the perfect red-white-and-blue option in my event picks.

IndepenDANCE Beach Party at Nikki Beach

Pool party lovers, I found a sunny option for you: IndepenDANCE, an all day and night pool party with live DJ’s at South Beach’s long standing night club, Nikki Beach. The party starts at noon and ends at 5 AM… Do you think that’s enough time to thoroughly enjoy yourself? Be prepared to shake what your momma gave you in your bikini while listening to sounds from Steve Lawler, Victor Calderone, The Martinez Brothers, and more.  There is a cost to this party, but it is still selling out – check out the details below.

Where: Nikki Beach – One Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL

When: July 4th at  12 PM until July 5th at 5 AM

Cost: $25 – $75 – Your IndepenDANCE pool party tickets can be purchased online.

Fireworks Spectacular at the Biltmore Hotel

I’ve watched fireworks at the Biltmore for a couple of Fourth of July’s. For a minute they had stopped doing the event because they had re-done their golf course, and attempted a green light show that reflected off of the building. It was a sad show, I’ll just admit it. But this year they have upped their game 100 percent.

The event is FREE baby, and it starts at 5 PM. There are going to be food trucks, my favorite new trend in Miami, and beverages for sale. I would recommend getting there pretty much on time so you can grab a good spot on the golf course. Definitely bring a large blanket; I always remember the grass being wet. You know how summer in Miami is: moist, really moist. Just saying that reminded me that you should leave your flip flops at home and wear closed toe shoes.

This is the schedule:

5 PM – Doors open to the public

7 PM – Live music from The Greater Miami Symphonic Band

9 PM – the Fireworks Spectacular begins!

America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park

This is going to be another fun event for everyone. Who doesn’t want to celebrate America’s birthday with petting zoos, food and fireworks?! They had me at petting zoos. There will also be fairytale pony rides (I swear this event was made for me), a free kid’s zone and live music by Dirty Dollars. This family-fun shindig is FREE for all and starts whenever you are ready to get your red-white-and-blue on. I would definitely recommend lawn chairs and blankets, as there will not be seating provided to enjoy the fun. If not, I hope your booty likes hanging out on rock hard cement! It also wouldn’t be the worst idea to bring sunscreen or a hat for everyone. Miami’s sun has been very unforgiving lately.

Here is the itinerary for America’s birthday party:

11 AM – 8 PM – Fairytale Pony Rides & Petting Zoo
3 PM -7 PM – Free Kids’ Zone
5 PM -8 PM – Miami Contradance w/ Live Music by Dirty Dollars
9 PM – Fireworks!
