Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting her latest movie, Country Strong, and of course she has to look fabulous on the red carpet. Although some people weren’t so thrilled with her choice of garment, maybe a better bet would have been taking the sexy lace-up where it belongs, on designer swimwear.

Even though we don’t mind her choice of dress, this Emilio Pucci number is rather plain in the front but the back is where it’s all happening. The open back ties all the way down to her upper thigh, a detail that can be a little scandalous to say the least. So maybe Gwyneth always looks amazing, and this time she didn’t quite hit the nail on the head, but Gwyneth, if you wanted to look sexy in lace-up you should have just asked us.

Being the experts that we are in swimwear we would have recommended a sexy little number by Agua Bendita Swimwear, the Bendito Unicornio. As seen on Candice Swanepoel, the world renowned model, this spectacular monokini swimsuit is without a doubt a showstopper, and sports the lace-up swimwear trend perfectly. Its halter style top ties at the neck and at the back with a tie that wraps around below the bust. The lace-up detail starts just below the string tie and ends below the belly button (a risqué detail, but hey, you’re at the beach, not on the red carpet). The swimsuit also features mesh details throughout the hemlines, another eye-catching detail. The back is just as sexy, with a bottom that offers moderate coverage at the rear and we love the open back look, which of course is why they’re called monokinis.

So lace-up the right way and remember, lace-up is always better on swimwear.
