Keeping up with our new Wednesday tradition, Danielle and I walked diligently to yoga yesterday. I immediately noticed the dark clouds (I’m always looking out for rain – can’t mess up the hair!) and asked Danielle if she thought it was going to rain. “No,” she said with confidence because she’s a little Positive Patty all the time. I, on the other hand, think of the worst case scenario first, so when we got to the park I looked straight at the bay. The bay never lies. If it’s going to rain, the look of the bay will give it away, and sure enough it did.
The entire skyline was foggy with rain and we both noticed the sad truth right away – no yoga today. We knew we had to turn around and go back to our cars (the garage was 5 blocks away) before the rain caught up to us. The funny thing about plans is that they don’t always go….as planned. The rain started coming down within in seconds, and we started running just as fast as it started. As we ran I kept yelling ridiculous things like “Shelter!” or “Roof!” hoping we’d eventually find one of those things FAST. Most people think my cat-like reaction to rain is crazy, but when you spend 3 hours a week on your hair, you have the right to protect your work!
Lucky for me, Danielle never forgets a good piece of information, and on our first-ever walk to yoga we had seen a sign advertising free ‘bubbly’ for girls on Wednesdays. “Let’s go to the bubbly place,” she said. Since I never turn down a free glass of champagne (and I was in desperate need of shelter), we ran a couple of more blocks to Bin 18.
We walked in looking like wet dogs and lucky for us they sat us down anyway, and were super nice. It wasn’t a surprise to them that we were interested in champagne, and being the awesome people that they are, the waitress offered to bring us the whole bottle. We declined, but for you lushes out there, that’s good to know!
We ordered a cheese platter with chorizo on the side, as well as artichoke spread and figs. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!! They gave us a side order of warm pieces of bread on the house to complete the amazing-ness of the whole place. By this time, Miami looked like it was having it’s first hurricane of the season. We were stuck there for a while.
Three glasses of champagne later it was time for me to break the seal. I was happy to see they had a trendy little bathroom with records all over the wall that had chalk-written messages from other customers. Like most girls, I got really excited, grabbed a piece of pink chalk, and went to town on those records. Of course, I took pictures to share with all of you, but hopefully you can stop by next week and see my ‘art’ for yourself! Here are the details:
