The U.S. Open is coming to a close, and we hope you’ve enjoyed reading our Top Tennis Hotties blog as much as we have enjoyed writing it. And looking at it. Over….and over.
But now it’s time to get back into the world of fashion. That’s right. This month is going to be chock full of fashion fun as Fashion Week will be taking over one city at a time, starting with one of our favorites: New York Fashion Week.
Every year in September, the shows attract bloggers and fashion elite from around the world, heading to the city’s hot spots while they’re in town. It’s a bonanza of the top style icons pounding the pavement and showing off their favorite designers duds.
Yesterday, marked the launch of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York with the release of the Spring 2015 Athleta collection. A handful of designers such as Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Mara Hoffman created little black dresses to debut in the show saluting female veterans.
We’ve chosen our top things to keep an eye out for this upcoming week, just so you can stay in the fashion loop.
Mara Hoffman – Saturday September 6th, 2pm
You already know that Mara Hoffman Dresses are our jam. We love her unique styles and tasteful designs. The ethnic print paired with the animal print, then added to high waisted swimwear is like our dream come true. If you haven’t checked out the 2015 Mara Hoffman Swimwear collection, please take a moment to peruse.
We loved the collection at Merecedes Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, so we’re super excited to see what her Ready-to-Wear collection will bring. The Ready-to-Wear collections include everything from flowing dresses, playful mini dresses, and cashmere coats, in bold and wearable prints. Mara Hoffman‘s Ready-to-Wear collection is shown at Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.
Take a look at last year’s collection, and get ready to start worshiping the crop top bikini.
Trina Turk – Friday, September 5th 2:30pm
Trina Turk is usually a staple at New York Fashion Week. She’s been showcasing her collections there for quite some time. If you didn’t know already, we carry Trina Turk Swimwear, and boy do we love it. Trina Turk is both inspired by and represents the lifestyle of California: optimistic, progressive, accessible, effortless, colorful, and confident. Her ready-to-wear, accessory, and home collections are influenced by her love of 1960s and ’70s vintage apparel and jewelry as well as modernist and graphic art, and mid-century modern architecture. Turk is widely known for her use of dynamic colors and signature prints, including bright floral, bold graphics and vintage inspired jacquards. This designer is ultimate for women’s swimwear, and we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve.
Here Comes the Tech BOOM
One of the hottest things to hit the runway this year won’t be fashion, it will actually be technology. Diane Von Furstenberg worked with Google Glass on a collection of optical glasses and sunglasses for Net-a-porter in June. Then Tory Burch launched a series of accessories designed to synch with fitness tracker Fitbit. Last week, Ralph Lauren introduced a smart shirt at the U.S. Open. And designer Rebecca Minkoff plans to show tech accessories, including wristlets and mobile chargers made with Case-Mate, on the runway at her spring show. Wearable technology is making it’s official debut this runway season. But do you think it will be fashionable enough to catch on?
Calvin Klein Collection – Thursday, September 11th 2pm
This is the thing we love about Calvin Klein – it’s simple. There isn’t any crazy designs and off-the-wall garments. It’s always so chic and sexy in the most minimalist form. It’s the brand that reminds us the most of Orchid Label Swimwear to be honest. We recently released Orchid Label 2015 and have officially stepped up the game. Not only have we taken the very basic elements of fashionable swimwear but we have combined them with stylish and modern prints. Take a look below at what we mean, and see for yourself how easy the sexy swimwear game can be.
